Making songs

What is Midhull?

Midhull is an AI music studio for iPhone and Android. You start from a sentence, a hum, lyrics, a photo, a rhythm, a person or another song, and Midhull makes a finished song with lyrics, vocals, a cover and a lyric video.

Do I need to know anything about music?

No. If you can describe a feeling or hum a few seconds of a tune, you can make a song. If you do play or produce, the studio gives you stems, key, tempo, MIDI and section editing. Some of these tools open up as you level up.

How long does a song take?

You hear two short previews to choose from, then we finish the one you keep. Your first song is made right inside the welcome. It’s saved on your phone and yours to keep.

Can I use my own lyrics?

Yes. Use Write it, paste your words and mark the verse and chorus if you like. Every line is sung in the order you wrote it.

Can I change part of a song?

Yes. Redo one section, extend the song, re-sing one line or fix how a word is pronounced. Lock the voice and the melody, and only what you touch changes.

Can Midhull sing in my voice?

Yes, with My voice. You read a consent phrase out loud and record a few lines. It only works with your own voice, and you can remove it whenever you like.

Can I make a song that sounds like a famous artist?

No. Midhull doesn’t imitate real artists. Describe the sound instead: the genre, the era, the mood and the instruments.

Sharing and gifts

Does the person I send a song to need the app?

No. They open the link in any browser, with no app and no sign up. If they want to answer with a song, they can get the app.

What does an answer look like?

When someone answers your song with one of their own, the two songs share one cover: yours on one side, theirs on the other.

Are my songs public?

Only if you choose. Songs start in your library. You decide whether to post them to the feed, enter them in a challenge or send them to one person.

Can I post my songs on social media?

Yes. Personal use on every plan, full terms at launch. Share a vertical lyric video, a 15 second hook, a story sticker or a link.

Plans and money

How much does Midhull cost?

Your first song is free. After that there are Creator, Pro and Family plans, monthly or yearly. Prices arrive with launch and will be on our pricing page.

Is there a free trial?

Yearly plans start with a 3 day trial. We remind you before it ends. Monthly plans have no trial.

What if a song doesn’t come out right?

Previews don’t use your balance, and a song counts only when you keep it. If a song you kept doesn’t come out right, it goes back to your balance automatically.

How do I cancel?

In two taps, from Settings. Subscriptions are managed by the App Store or Google Play, and we open the right screen for you.

Can I download my songs?

Yes. On a plan you can download MP3, WAV and MIDI, and stem export opens up as you level up. Your free first song is saved on your phone and yours to keep. Songs you make stay downloadable, even if you change plans.

Rights and safety

Who owns the songs I make?

Personal use on every plan, full terms at launch. Each song also has a rights card that says what you can do with it, in plain words.

Can I sample other music?

You can sample your own recordings, songs from the Midhull community (credited automatically, unless the creator opts out) and our own sample packs. Commercial and third party recordings can’t be sampled.

How do I report something?

Every song, comment and profile has a report option. People on our team review reports. For rights issues, write to copyright@midhull.com.
